Who We Are
Legal Aid Translation is a specialist translation agency dedicated exclusively to legal aid work in England and Wales. We provide document translation and certified translation services at Legal Aid Agency (LAA) rates for solicitors, law firms, barristers chambers, and legal aid organisations across the UK.
We were founded on a simple principle: solicitors doing legal aid work deserve access to fast, accurate, affordable translation services delivered by people who understand their world. The legal aid sector is under immense pressure — funding cuts, rising caseloads, and increasingly complex cases. The last thing a legal aid solicitor needs is to struggle with unreliable translation providers.

Our Translators
We do not use general translators for legal work. Every translator on our team is a qualified linguist with specialist legal training and proven experience in the UK legal system. Many hold the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) and are registered with the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI).
Before joining our team, every translator undergoes a rigorous vetting process including qualification verification, legal translation testing, reference checks, and enhanced DBS disclosure. They must demonstrate not just language ability, but understanding of UK legal concepts and terminology.
